Es heißt in letzter Zeit immer, Neukölln mutiere zum neuen In-Viertel Berlins. Ich halte nicht sonderlich viel von solchen Szene-Prognosen, sondern gehe gerne dort hin wo es gefällt, schmeckt und nette Menschen an meinem Tisch sitzen. Auffällig ist jedoch, dass sich in der Weserstraße immer mehr ansehnliche Cafés und Bars niedergelassen haben.
Ein ganz besonderer Geheimtipp ist Fortuna’s Table. Hier kocht Suzy Fracassa mit Leidenschaft außergewöhnliche Köstlichkeiten wie „SlowRoasted Lamm“ mit Ingwer-Granatapfelgarnitur oder Crostini mit einer Mousse ausweißen Bohnen, Rosmarin und gegrillter Zucchini. Die Amerikanerin vermietet die charmanten Räumlichkeiten, betreibt einen Catering-Service und veranstaltet sogenannte Privat-Dinner Events. Das Ambiente ist ein Mix aus Shabby Chic und Purismus. An den langen Holztafeln kommt schnell das Gefühl eines vertrauten „Dinner bei Freunden“ auf und spätestens beim warmen Brownie mit Karamellüberzug fühlt man sich gänzlich umsorgt und glücklich.
Suzy Fracassa hat sich zwischen Kochtöpfen und Backblechen einen Moment Zeit genommen, um mit mir über das Kochen und die Leidenschaft der Bewirtung ihrer Gäste zu sprechen.
Suzy, was ist Dein Hintergrund? Bist Du gelernte Köchin?
Das Kochen habe ich mir selbst beigebracht. Ich komme aus einer italienisch-amerikanischen Familie und bin in Detroit aufgewachsen. Meine Eltern haben beide leidenschaftlich gerne unsere Familienrezepte gekocht. Ich habe zunächst in einer PR-Agentur in New York gearbeitet, bevor ich das Kochen für mich entdeckt habe. In New York habe ich insgesamt sechs Jahre gelebt, in wundervollen Restaurants gearbeitet und viele Inspirationen sammeln können.

Das Catering betreibe ich seit 2003 und seit 2009 gibt es den Private Dining Room.
Ist Kochen eine Passion für Dich?
Ja! Nachdem ich in der Werbeagentur gearbeitet habe merkte ich, dass dies nicht Alles sein kann. Kochen ist für mich eine wahre Passion, die mich sehr glücklich macht.
Wie würdest DuDein Essen beschreiben?
Ich würde sagen, dass mein Essen von vielen verschiedenen Kulturen beeinflusst wird, aber immer mit einem „American twist“. Das bedeutet für mich,dass ich traditionelle Gerichte in einen neuen Look präsentiere, aber ohne zusehr von dem ursprünglichen Rezept abzuweichen, welches dem Gericht denbesonderen Geschmack gibt.

Ich liebe alles, was meine Eltern für mich als Willkommensessen kochen!
Warum hast Du Dich dafür entschieden nach Berlin-Neukölln zu gehen?
Ich habe zehn Jahre in Neukölln gelebt und bin ursprünglich wegen der Liebe hier her gekommen. Egal was sich hier heute ändert, Neukölln hat für mich immer noch diese authentische Atmosphäre. Ich fühle mich hier sehr zu Hause!
